If you think you are looking at a strange timber toilet seat for a tiny bottom then you are forgiven. Thats what I thought the first time I saw it . It took me a few minutes for me to get my head around this ( no pun intended) but when I saw it upside down,
the brim became clear.
My first felt hat was made on a block not unlike this one by Darryl at #HatBlocksAustralia. I still love that hat and wear it with pride even though it has beginner imperfections. The timber is lovely to pin and its nice to look at too. They are known as a donut brim but I have always referred to them as a toilet seat brim.
Unfortunately I think my students have adopted the term too which may make me unpopular with the purists but its all in good fun.
